Day 1: Transfer to Sipi Falls & Guided 3-Waterfalls Adventure Hike

Mount Elgon Slopes

Depart early from Kampala heading east through Jinja and the lush sugar and tea estates of Mbale to the elevated foothills of Mount Elgon. Arrive in Sipi for lunch, followed by a thrilling guided trek covering all three cascading levels of Sipi Falls, descending into misty caves and viewing the iconic 100-meter main plunge.

  • 01:00 PM: Lodge arrival, check-in, and lunch overlooking the caldera valley

Trek & Community Experience

Begin your day with a guided day hike into Mount Elgon National Park via the Kapkwai Exploration Centre, trekking through dense montane bamboo and podocarpus forests. In the afternoon, join local Bugisu farmers for an immersive, hands-on coffee plantation tour from bean harvesting to traditional roasting.

  • 08:30–01:00 PM: Guided Mount Elgon day hike along Chebonet Falls trail, exploring Cheptui caves and spotting primates and forest birds

Day 3: Sipi Falls to Kasese – The Foothills of the Rwenzoris

Embark on an expansive scenic drive traversing Uganda from east to west across the Nile basin and the central plateau, heading straight toward the legendary “Mountains of the Moon” (Rwenzori Mountain range).

Day 4: Rwenzori Mountains National Park – Alpine Day Trek

Mountains of the Moon

Enter Rwenzori Mountains National Park with veteran alpine guides. Ascend through distinctive vegetation zones, along rushing glacial river valleys and giant heather forests, experiencing the unique alpine wilderness of UNESCO-listed Rwenzori.

  • 07:30 AM: Transfer to the park trailhead for equipment check and ranger briefing
  • Option A – Central Circuit Day Hike (to Nyabitaba Hut – 2,650m): Hike along the Mubuku and Mahoma rivers through montane forest and bamboo slopes.
  • Option B – Kilembe Trail Day Trek (to Sine Camp – 2,596m): Hike through the Afro-montane forest zone featuring moss-draped valley floors and pristine river gorges.
  • 04:30 PM: Descend back to the base camp and transfer to the lodge for hot showers and a mountain feast.

Day 5: Bakonzo Mountain Culture Walk & Ruboni Community Immersion

Dedicate the day to authentic cultural interactions with the indigenous Bakonzo people who have inhabited the slopes of the Rwenzoris for centuries, followed by a gentle nature walk to search for the endemic three-horned chameleon.

Transfer north to Fort Portal, Uganda’s tourism city, for an active adventure traversing ancient volcanic explosion craters, exploring the historic Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves, and hiking to the summit of Kyeganywa hill.

  • 08:00 AM: Scenic drive to Fort Portal (approx. 2 hrs)
  • 10:00–12:30 PM: Guided exploration of Amabere Caves stalactites, waterfalls, and local cultural mythology
  • 12:30–02:00 PM: Hike to the rim of the explosion craters (Lake Saaka & Lake Kigere) and enjoy a picnic lunch
  • 03:30–05:30 PM: Walking tour through lush highland tea plantations overlooking the crater rims

Day 7: Fort Portal – Kampala / Entebbe Departure Transfer

Return Journey

Enjoy a relaxed morning breakfast overlooking the crater rim before beginning the return journey eastward through Mubende and Mityana back to Kampala or Entebbe for your evening departure flight.
