Route: Kampala / Entebbe → Kibale Forest National Park → Bwindi Impenetrable National Park → Kampala / Entebbe

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest & Chimpanzee Experience

Kibale Forest NP

Depart early from Kampala or Entebbe for a scenic drive west through lush tea plantations and the foothills of Fort Portal, arriving at Kibale Forest in time for your afternoon primate trek.

  • 06:30 AM: Morning pick-up and transfer toward western Uganda (approx. 5–6 hrs)
  • 12:30 PM: Arrival at Kibale, lodge check-in, and lunch
  • Option A – Classic Chimpanzee Tracking: 02:00 PM: Guided canopy trek to spend 1 full hour observing a habituated chimpanzee troop.
  • Option B – Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX): Join researchers and rangers for an extended afternoon tracking session in the forest.
  • 05:30 PM: Return to the lodge for evening rest and dinner.

Day 2: Scenic Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Albertine Rift Highlands

Enjoy breakfast before journeying south along the Albertine Rift Valley, taking in views of the Rwenzori Mountains and the terraced hills of Kigezi on your way to the misty slopes of Bwindi Forest.

  • 08:00 AM: Departure from Kibale Forest
  • 01:00 PM: En-route lunch stopover
  • 03:30 PM: Arrival in the Bwindi sector and lodge check-in
  • 05:00 PM: Optional community village walk or leisure time to prepare trekking gear
  • 07:30 PM: Evening dinner and briefing on mountain gorilla etiquette with your Ngaro Wild Adventures guide

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Experience (Habituation or Tracking) – Departure

Bwindi Impenetrable NP

Early transfer to the UWA park headquarters for a ranger briefing before entering the ancient rainforest for a close encounter with wild mountain gorillas:

  • 07:00 AM: Breakfast and transfer to park headquarters for registration
  • 08:00 AM: Start of the guided rainforest trek
  • Option A – Classic Gorilla Tracking: Hike (2–6 hrs) to spend 1 full hour with a habituated gorilla family.
  • Option B – Gorilla Habituation Experience: Trek into the Rushaga sector for 4 full hours alongside researchers and trackers.
  • 01:30 PM: Return to base camp for certificate presentation and farewell lunch
  • 02:30 PM: Departure transfer back to Kampala, Entebbe Airport (EBB), or Kigali (KGL)
