Route: Kampala → Lake Mburo NP → Bwindi Impenetrable NP → Queen Elizabeth NP → Fort Portal & Crater Lakes → Kibale NP → Kampala

Day 1: Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park – Bwindi

Savannah & Forest Transit

Depart Kampala early at 6:00 AM and travel southwest to Lake Mburo National Park (approx. 240 km | 4–5 hrs). Enter the park for lunch and an afternoon open-roof game drive to spot zebras, giraffes, impalas, topis, elands, and buffaloes. Continue through the terraced hills of Kigezi to your safari lodge near Bwindi Forest.

  • 06:00 AM: Departure from Kampala
  • 10:00–11:00 AM: Arrival at Lake Mburo & park entry
  • Afternoon: 2–3 hour savannah game drive with park ranger
  • Evening: Arrival at Bwindi safari lodge (Total driving: 10–13 hrs)

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Experience (Habituation or Classic Tracking)

Bwindi Impenetrable NP

Early breakfast followed by registration and briefing at the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) park headquarters. Enter the rainforest for your selected mountain gorilla experience:

  • Option A – Gorilla Habituation Experience: Spend 4 full hours with a semi-habituated gorilla family alongside UWA researchers and trackers.
  • Option B – Classic Gorilla Tracking: Trek through the forest canopy to spend 1 full hour observing a habituated gorilla group.
  • Afternoon: Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 3: Bwindi – Queen Elizabeth NP & Afternoon Savannah Game Drive

Queen Elizabeth NP

Depart Bwindi after breakfast on a scenic transfer north to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 4–6 hrs). Check in and enjoy lunch at the lodge. In the late afternoon, head out for a compulsory savannah game drive to track elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and antelopes at dusk.

  • 07:00 AM: Morning departure from Bwindi
  • 12:00–01:00 PM: Arrival in Queen Elizabeth NP & lodge lunch
  • 03:30–06:30 PM: Afternoon/evening savannah game drive

Day 4: Kasenyi Sunrise Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Wildlife & Water Safari

Early morning safari across the Kasenyi plains searching for active predators including lions and leopards, alongside herds of Uganda kobs and warthogs. Return to the lodge for lunch before setting out on an afternoon 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel to view hippos, Nile crocodiles, and elephants lining the water’s edge.

  • 06:30–10:00 AM: Kasenyi plains wildlife tracking
  • 02:00–04:00 PM: Kazinga Channel boat safari
  • Late Afternoon: Free time and relaxation at the lodge

Day 5: Scenic Transfer to Fort Portal & Crater Lakes Exploration

Crater Highlands

Following breakfast, take a scenic drive north past the Rwenzori Mountains toward Fort Portal and the Ndali-Kasenda crater lake cluster (approx. 3–4 hrs). Spend the afternoon exploring crater viewpoints, visiting tea estates, or relaxing at the lodge in anticipation of primate tracking.

  • 08:30 AM: Scenic drive to Fort Portal
  • Midday: Arrival & lunch in the crater lakes region
  • Afternoon: Guided crater rim walks, tea estate walk, or lodge leisure

Day 6: Kibale Chimpanzee Experience (Habituation or Tracking) – Kampala

Primate Trek & Departure

Early morning transfer to Kibale National Park (Kanyanchu Visitor Center) for your primate trek, followed by the return drive to Kampala or Entebbe:

  • Option A – Chimpanzee Habituation Experience: Spend 3–4 hours in the forest observing wild chimpanzees feeding, grooming, and moving through the canopy.
  • Option B – Classic Chimpanzee Tracking: Join a ranger guide for a 2–3 hour trek to spend 1 hour with a fully habituated chimpanzee family.
  • Afternoon: Lunch in Fort Portal followed by the drive back to Kampala / Entebbe (approx. 5–6 hrs).
